Award-winning Nigerian singer Niniola has paid an emotional tribute to her late husband, Michael Ndika, during his Service of Songs held on Thursday.
Speaking at the ceremony, the singer described her late husband as the “engine” behind her life and career, saying he was deeply committed to her growth and success.
Niniola said Michael played a central role in both her personal life and music journey, adding that he supported her wholeheartedly and contributed significantly to her development as an artist.
She recalled that he promised to make her a superstar when they first met, a promise she said he fulfilled through his constant encouragement and belief in her talent.
According to her, their bond was very close, noting that he was the first person she saw every morning and the last person she saw each night.
“Michael did everything for me. He was breathing for me. He loved me so much. I learnt so much from him. When he met me, he said, ‘I will make you a superstar.’ Michael was my engine. He was the first person I saw in the morning and the last person at night,” she said.
The singer had earlier announced Michael’s passing on Instagram, sharing photos of their years together. She revealed that they had been together for 13 years, though she did not disclose the cause of his death.
