Unveiling of logo marks official takeoff of Nigeria’s new national revenue authority
The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has formally unveiled its institutional brand identity, signalling the completion of its transition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to the country’s newly established national revenue authority.
The transition was marked by the unveiling of the agency’s new logo at an event held in Abuja on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by Dare Adekanmbi, Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman of the NRS.
Speaking at the ceremony, Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, described the new identity as a defining moment in the evolution of Nigeria’s revenue administration system.
A shift toward unified and service-driven revenue collection
Adedeji said the brand unveiling reflects a renewed institutional vision focused on efficiency, integration, and service delivery, in line with Nigeria’s broader economic reform agenda and international best practices.
According to him, the new identity represents both continuity and transformation, retaining the core mandate of revenue mobilisation while strengthening institutional capacity and adopting a more forward-looking, taxpayer-focused approach.
“The new identity signals continuity of purpose, enhanced capacity, and a clear commitment to supporting taxpayers while contributing meaningfully to national development,” Adedeji said.
Focus on trust, transparency and partnership
In the statement, the NRS reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, collaboration, and service excellence, noting that the rebranding goes beyond visual identity to reflect a deeper institutional shift.
“The unveiling of this new identity represents not an end, but the beginning of a strengthened relationship between the revenue authority and the Nigerian public built on trust, clarity, and shared prosperity,” the statement read.
Legal backing already in place
Adekanmbi disclosed that the Nigeria Revenue Service formally commenced operations following the signing of its enabling legislation, the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June.
The Act provides the legal framework for the NRS to operate as a consolidated national revenue authority, replacing the former FIRS and aligning revenue administration with the government’s ongoing fiscal and tax reforms.
