NFF sacks Super Falcons technical crew after World Cup failure

The Nigeria Football Federation has ordered the immediate dissolution of the Super Falcons’ technical crew following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The decision was taken on Monday by the NFF Executive Committee, days after Nigeria lost 2-1 to South Africa in the African playoffs, ending their hopes of reaching the tournament in Brazil.

The Falcons had earlier suffered a historic quarter-final exit at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, losing 1-0 to Cameroon and missing out on automatic World Cup qualification.

The back-to-back setbacks have now prompted a major overhaul of the nine-time African champions as the NFF begins preparations for a new phase for the team.
