NBA Teams Most Vulnerable to Accidents

The Memphis Grizzlies are the NBA club most at risk of accidents, according to new research.

Based on information from ESPN, the sports betting media group’s study looked at the total amount of injuries sustained by individual players on each NBA team. The teams most prone to accidents are those who sustained the most number of injuries during the 2023–2024 season.

As far as NBA teams go, the Memphis Grizzlies are the most accident-prone. Eight injuries have been sustained by the basketball squad in the 2023–2024 season, including a Grade 3 ankle injury suffered by Desmond Bane in January 2024. Due to his shoulder surgery, Ja Morant will also miss the rest of the campaign.

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers rank in joint second place, with seven accidents in the 2023-2024 season. Colin Castleton, center for the Los Angeles Lakers, will be out of the game for weeks due to a fractured wrist; Robert Williams III, center for Rip City, has been out of play since October due to a patellar dislocation.

The Chicago Bulls is the third team most vulnerable to accidents. According to ESPN, the NBA team has incurred five injuries during the 2023-2024 season. The team’s power forward player, Patrick Williams, is recovering from surgery that treated bone edema in his left foot, meaning he will be out for the remainder of the season.

In joint fourth place with four injuries during the 2023-2024 season: Miami Heat’s Dru Smith is out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury; Mitchell Robinson, center for the New York Knicks, is out for the season since incurring an ankle injury against the Boston Celtics; the Philadelphia 76ers’ shooting guard, De’Anthony Melton, has lumbar spine bone stress and will miss approximately three games; and the Milwaukee Buck’s Khris Middleton missed a game due to an ankle injury.

On the other hand, seven NBA teams are tying as the least accident-prone. Oklahoma City Thunder’s Jaylin Williams, the New Orleans Pelicans’ Dyson Daniels, the Denver Nuggets’ Vlatko Cancer, the Detroit Pistons’ Quentin Grimes, and Orlando Magic’s Markelle Fultz all suffered knee injuries.

Additionally, the LA Clipper’s Russell Westbrook had surgery on his hand and Sacramento King’s Sasha Vezenkov injured their ankle.

The study used data from ESPN on the number of ‘day-to-day’ and ‘out’ injuries incurred by individual players to determine the most accident-prone NBA teams.
