In a major victory against terrorism, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the elimination of no fewer than 95 terrorists in precision airstrikes conducted around Ragada and Warari villages in the Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State.
The operation, carried out by the Air Component of Operation Fagge Yamma, was launched following credible intelligence reports indicating the movement of heavily armed terrorists from Zamfara State, transiting through Kebbi toward Niger.
According to a security source, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets intercepted the insurgents at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday as they advanced toward their target zones.
The terrorists were reportedly traveling in a convoy of 108 motorcycles and were heavily armed with sophisticated weapons.
“The jets engaged the bandits between Ragada and Warari villages, precisely around coordinates 10° 54′ 1.51” N | 5° 25′ 4.96” E,” the source said.
Out of the entire group, only 13 motorcycles managed to escape the aerial assault, while the remainder were destroyed in the strike, neutralizing an estimated 95 terrorists on the spot.
Residents of Makuku, Warari, and Ragada have expressed relief and gratitude to the federal government and the Nigerian military for their continued commitment to restoring peace in the region.
Locals lauded the effectiveness of the air raids and called for sustained military presence to prevent regrouping by the fleeing insurgents.
The latest operation underscores the NAF’s renewed momentum in counter-terrorism operations, particularly in the volatile Northwest corridor, where banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism have plagued rural communities.
