Meta Suspends Eedris Abdulkareem’s Facebook, Instagram Accounts After New Anti-Corruption Track
Meta has suspended the Facebook and Instagram accounts of Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem, with the artiste currently unable to access either platform. The takedown occurred less than a week after he released a politically charged single titled “Open Letter to Donald Trump.”
The track, published on TikTok on November 29 under his label Lakreem Entertainment, features Abdulkareem urging U.S. President Donald Trump to intervene in Nigeria’s worsening security situation. In the song, he accuses members of Nigeria’s political class of enriching themselves while citizens face daily threats from kidnappers, terrorists, and other violent groups.
The rapper also suggests that the country’s leaders fear global scrutiny, punctuating the chorus with the line “dem dey fear Donald Trump.” He frames the song as an attempt to draw international attention to Nigeria’s deepening instability.
Abdulkareem has long used his music to challenge those in power. Earlier in April 2025, he released “Tell Your Papa,” a song calling on Seyi Tinubu to inform his father, President Bola Tinubu, of the hardships Nigerians face. The National Broadcasting Commission later banned the track for allegedly breaching the Broadcasting Code.
His most famous confrontation with authorities dates back to 2004, when former President Olusegun Obasanjo banned his hit record “Jaga Jaga.” Despite the ban, the song gained cult status and became a symbol of public frustration.
A video of the latest track has since circulated widely online.
