MC Alger players have convened an emergency meeting to discuss their response to Rangers ahead of the return leg of their CAF Champions League tie.
The Algerian side lost 2-0 to the Nigerian champions in the first leg of the second preliminary round at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta on Saturday.
The decisive return fixture is scheduled for Friday, October 23, in Algiers, where MC Alger must overturn the deficit to advance.
The meeting, initiated by captain Ayoub Abdelouali and head coach Ben Yahia, ended with the players pledging to produce a historic performance and secure victory.
MC Alger are targeting a win by at least three goals to guarantee qualification for the group stage.
The talks followed a separate meeting with the club’s management, which urged the squad to give their all in the return leg and make up for their first-leg defeat in Abeokuta.
The winner on aggregate will advance to the competition’s group stage.
