Leboeuf Advises Sesko Against Choosing Manchester United Over Newcastle

Former Chelsea and France defender Frank Leboeuf has cautioned Benjamin Sesko about his apparent preference for Manchester United, urging the striker to consider Newcastle United instead.

Manchester United are currently finalizing a deal with RB Leipzig to bring the highly rated Slovenian forward to Old Trafford. However, reports suggest Newcastle have submitted a superior offer—€82.5 million plus €2.5 million in add-ons—which Leipzig have accepted. Despite this, Sesko is reportedly set on joining the Red Devils.

Appearing on ESPN FC, Leboeuf was asked which club he would choose if he were in Sesko’s position. His response was clear:

“Right now, of course not. I wouldn’t pick Manchester United over Newcastle,” said the World Cup winner. “Based on what we’ve seen from United lately and what Newcastle have achieved over the past two seasons, I would always go with Newcastle.”

Leboeuf highlighted Newcastle’s consistent push for European qualification as a major factor in his reasoning, contrasting it with the uncertainty surrounding Manchester United’s current direction.

“United used to be one of the biggest clubs in the world—maybe the biggest—but that’s no longer the case. There are too many doubts around them.”

He acknowledged that for Sesko, joining Manchester United might represent a dream move:

“If it’s his dream, let him pursue it. But personally, I wouldn’t go to Old Trafford if I were in his shoes.”
