Lagos Begins E-Call Up System Enforcement on Lekki-Epe, Over 10,000 Trucks Registered

In a significant step toward decongesting traffic and modernising logistics management, the Lagos State Government has announced that over 10,000 trucks have registered ahead of the enforcement of the E-Call Up System along the Lekki-Epe Corridor, set to commence on August 1, 2025.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the government confirmed that additional vehicles are still being onboarded, following months of strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and public awareness campaigns.

The Ministry of Transportation, leading the implementation, revealed that it had adopted several stakeholder-driven recommendations to ensure a smooth rollout. Among them is the reduction of the park usage fee from ₦12,500 to ₦10,000, and the activation of seven fully equipped truck parks strategically located along the corridor.

To facilitate compliance and ease adoption, the Ministry, in partnership with E-Call Up Technologies, has launched a familiarisation exercise at the designated parks. The initiative provides truck drivers with free system testing, real-time demonstrations, and hands-on support on registration and daily operations.

“This E-Call Up System will revolutionise the movement of trucks and freight in Lagos,” the statement said. “It will reduce gridlock, eliminate indiscriminate parking, improve safety, and protect road infrastructure along one of Lagos’ busiest corridors.”

The digital scheduling platform is expected to streamline truck movement, enhance regulatory compliance, and stimulate economic activity by improving access and efficiency at critical logistics and industrial hubs, including the Lekki Free Trade Zone and the Lekki Deep Seaport.

The Lagos State Government has urged all operators and logistics stakeholders to finalise their registration and cooperate fully with the enforcement agencies to ensure the seamless implementation of the initiative.

“This marks another major milestone toward building a smarter, safer, and more efficient transportation system in Lagos,” the statement concluded.
