Trump Threatens Iran Infrastructure While Pushing New Peace Talks

United States President, Donald Trump, has escalated his rhetoric against Iran, threatening strikes on its infrastructure while signalling fresh peace talks.

In a series of posts on his Truth Social platform, Trump warned that Iran could face attacks on power plants and bridges if it fails to reach a deal to end the ongoing conflict. He linked the threat to heightened tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, where shipping disruptions have continued amid the war.

Trump also said U.S. representatives were being sent to Pakistan for another round of negotiations, with the delegation expected to arrive within hours, even as uncertainty remains over Iran’s participation in the talks.

The U.S. president claimed recent Iranian actions in the Strait of Hormuz amounted to violations of ceasefire arrangements, alleging attacks involving foreign commercial vessels, including those linked to France and the United Kingdom.

He insisted that the United States “loses nothing” from the partial closure of the strategic waterway, while arguing that Iran is suffering significant financial losses due to restricted maritime traffic.

Trump also repeated earlier warnings that U.S. forces could target Iranian energy infrastructure, a position that has drawn international concern, with such strikes widely viewed as potential breaches of international law.

He ended his remarks with a sharply worded message calling for an end to what he described as Iran’s “killing machine”, underscoring the increasingly confrontational tone alongside ongoing diplomatic manoeuvres.
