Lagos APC Primary: Hamzat Guarantees Transparent Process as Consensus Candidates Emerge

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat, has assured delegates participating in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election of a free, credible, and transparent process, emphasizing that their votes would count.

Addressing delegates from the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), Hamzat urged calm, discipline, and cooperation throughout the exercise, which he described as crucial to upholding democratic values.

“The President is watching closely because this is his state,” Hamzat said. “Let’s remain calm as we exercise our voting rights. Your vote will count, and we must ensure that the process remains peaceful and orderly. LASIEC is observing, and we are committed to a peaceful election process.”

He continued: “In Lagos, the APC is the only party that stands strong. While the opposition parties are divided, we must stay united and do things the right way. Let’s complete this process quickly and peacefully.”

Delegates from four local government areas and LCDAs have affirmed their chairmanship candidates in a smooth and peaceful process. The consensus candidates include:

Hon. Isa Abiola Jubril for Iba LCDA, Hon. Azeez Kareem for Otto Awori LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo for Ijede LCDA, Hon. Razak Kasali for Lekki LCDA

The delegates were called into the voting hall to formally affirm their consensus candidates following a public declaration, marking an efficient start to the primary process.

The primaries continue, with delegates from other councils poised to cast their votes in contested races. All eyes remain on Lagos as the APC navigates this critical phase leading up to the council elections.
