The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State is set to officially launch its campaign for the upcoming July 12 local government elections on Tuesday, June 17, with the formal presentation of candidates and party flags.
The campaign flag-off will take place at the APC State Secretariat in Ogba, according to a statement released on Saturday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo.
Oladejo announced that the campaign structure has been decentralised to cover all three senatorial districts—Lagos East, Central, and West. Due to its size, Lagos West has been further split into two zones to ensure extensive reach and grassroots engagement.
He said the Tuesday event would bring together key stakeholders of the party, including chieftains, elected office holders, and political appointees at all levels.
“We have mandated local party leaders to set up Local Organising Committees (LOCs) in their councils to drive the campaign into every ward, street, and community across the state,” Oladejo stated.
The APC spokesperson noted that the campaign would focus on the “unprecedented achievements” recorded by the outgoing administrations in the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). These include social intervention programs and development projects that align with the APC’s progressive ideals.
Oladejo also encouraged eligible voters to participate actively in the July 12 polls and fulfill their civic duties.
“The campaign period will run until a day before the election, in line with electoral guidelines,” he added.
The APC primaries held on May 10 produced candidates for chairmanship, vice chairmanship, and councillorship positions across the 20 LGAs, 37 LCDAs, and 377 wards in Lagos State.
As campaigns kick off, the party is banking on its track record in local governance to galvanise support and secure victory across the board.
