Kemi Afolabi Condemns Those Who Celebrate Others’ Suffering, Death

Nollywood actress Kemi Afolabi has criticised people who celebrate another person’s suffering or death, describing such reactions as a disturbing disregard for human life.

In a post shared on Instagram on Friday, the actress reminded her followers that death is inevitable and questioned the decision to rejoice over another person’s misfortune.

“We all are gonna bite the dust. Your jubilation over another’s afflictions or death is diabolical,” she wrote.

Afolabi’s message comes as she continues to deal with health challenges linked to lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that can affect different parts of the body.

Actress has undergone multiple surgeries

In August 2026, Afolabi disclosed that she had undergone several surgeries during the year following lupus flare-ups.

The actress had previously spoken publicly about the severity of her condition. In 2022, she revealed that her doctor had given her a prognosis of five years to live, a disclosure that drew widespread concern from fans and colleagues.

Her latest remarks highlight her condemnation of people who respond to others’ pain or death with celebration rather than compassion.

Afolabi did not identify anyone as the target of her Instagram post or explain what specifically prompted the message.

Her statement serves as a reminder of the uncertainty of life and the importance of showing empathy towards people experiencing illness, loss or other personal difficulties.
