Fuad Kayode-Laguda, a financial specialist and civil servant has emerged as the All Progressives Congress’ candidate for the Surulere 1 Constituency House of Representatives by-election.
Kayode-Laguda emerged as the candidate by winning the party’s primary election held on Saturday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
In the election which was held at the Teslim Balogun stadium on Saturday, January 6, Laguda defeated other contestants – Kabir Lawal, Jamila Omobolanle and Abdul Raheem Owokoniran to clinch the party ticket for the forthcoming election in the constituency.
He secured all the thirty votes of the delegates that voted in the election, while other aspirants received none.
The goal of the bye-election come February 3, 2024 is to replace Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, who served as the representative for the constituency prior to being named Chief of Staff by President Bola Tinubu.
