Jaywon Takes Nigerian Resilience to Africa’s Music Stage With New Single ‘Jungle Boy’

Nigerian singer Jaywon has released a new single, Jungle Boy, as part of Bantu Muntu, a pan-African music initiative led by independent music and entertainment company Shake It Africa.

Released on Thursday, October 15, the Afro-pop track explores resilience, ambition and the struggle to achieve success despite difficult circumstances.

According to the label, the song combines soulful melodies with contemporary Afro-pop production to tell a story about striving for a better life.

The release marks the second phase of the Bantu Muntu campaign, which seeks to connect artists and musical styles from different parts of Africa while introducing them to wider audiences.

Shake It Africa was founded by musician Jon Muq and music executive Kevin Wommack. The company aims to promote African music, visual arts and live entertainment across the continent, the United States and Europe.

Speaking about the initiative, Muq, the company’s co-founder, lead A&R and creative director, said the project was designed to celebrate the diversity of African music while allowing artists to maintain their distinct identities.

He described Jaywon’s contribution as a reflection of experience, melody and a story of resilience rooted in Nigeria.

Jungle Boy is among the releases paving the way for the 10-track Bantu Muntu compilation, scheduled for February 12, 2027.

The forthcoming project will feature artists from across Africa, with an emphasis on regional musical influences, cross-border collaboration and international exposure.

The campaign is also scheduled to extend to Europe, with a Shake It Africa showcase planned for Utrecht, the Netherlands, on March 27, 2027.

Shake It Africa said the initiative forms part of its broader effort to strengthen connections between African artists and listeners at home, across the diaspora and in international markets.

Through the Bantu Muntu campaign, the company aims to create opportunities for artists to showcase their individual sounds while contributing to a wider representation of Africa’s diverse music scene.
