Nigerian star gushes over pop icon Rihanna, says choosing her as a role model was the best decision
Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has opened up about her admiration for global pop icon Rihanna, calling her the ideal role model and revealing the surprise of discovering that Rihanna is also a fan of her music.
Speaking in a recent interview with ETalk TV, the Rush crooner reflected on her first meeting with the Fenty Beauty mogul, describing the moment as surreal and unforgettable.
“She [Rihanna] is such an amazing person,” Ayra Starr said. “To be honest, it still feels like a dream. I love her so much. People always say, ‘never meet your idols,’ but I’m so glad I met mine because she’s just an amazing person.”
What stood out the most for the 21-year-old Mavin Records star was finding out that her music resonates with Rihanna.
“The fact that she loves my music, I’m my favourite artist’s favourite artist,” she said with excitement. “She’s such an amazing artist, an amazing woman, and someone to look up to. I know I chose a great role model.”
Starr also admitted she gets nervous in Rihanna’s presence and often finds herself cracking unnecessary jokes to ease the tension. Still, she cherishes every opportunity to be around the global superstar.
