Hull City have ended David Akintola’s contract by mutual agreement, clearing the way for the Nigerian winger to join Cypriot club Omonoia FC permanently.
Akintola arrived at Hull from Turkish side Çaykur Rizespor in August 2025 and featured 21 times during the 2025/26 season.
The 30-year-old scored once and registered two assists as the Tigers secured promotion to the Premier League. He also featured in the club’s FA Cup and Carabao Cup campaigns.
Akintola made his debut off the bench in Hull’s 3-2 home win over Oxford United in August 2025 and remained involved throughout the campaign.
The winger previously played for Turkish clubs Adana Demirspor and Hatayspor, as well as teams in Norway and Cyprus.
Hull thanked Akintola for his contribution at the MKM Stadium.
“We would like to thank David for his efforts throughout his time at the MKM Stadium and wish him well for the future,” the club said in a statement on its X handle on Thursday.
His departure allows Akintola to return to Cyprus and complete his permanent move to Omonoia as Hull prepare for their return to the Premier League.
