Funke Akindele has stirred excitement among fans after hinting that her Yoruba-language film, Àpáàdì, could be remade.
The filmmaker reacted on X to a post featuring the original poster of the film, which starred Akindele alongside veteran actors including Adebayo Salami, Peju Ogunmola, Peter Fatomilola and Yinka Quadri.
The fan described Akindele as an “Evergreen Mama” while sharing the throwback poster from the Scene One Productions project.
Responding to the post, Akindele wrote, “A remake won’t be a bad idea.”
Her brief comment immediately prompted reactions from fans, with some calling for the revival of other older titles from her filmography, including Aje Meta.
Although Akindele did not confirm that a remake is currently in production, her comment has renewed interest in Àpáàdì and other earlier projects associated with her career.
The filmmaker is currently preparing for the release of her latest project, The Four, which is scheduled to hit Nigerian cinemas on December 11.
The possible return of Àpáàdì would add to growing nostalgia around older Nigerian films, particularly among audiences who followed Akindele’s work during the earlier stages of her career.
