Former Super Eagles Striker Anthony Ujah Retires from Professional Football at 34

Anthony Ujah, former Nigerian international and Super Eagles striker, has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 34. The forward, whose career spanned more than a decade, confirmed the decision on social media on Friday.
“Today, I make the toughest decision of my life, retiring from professional football,” Ujah wrote in a heartfelt post.
Ujah most recently played for Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv, but his time there was marred by injury. He managed just five appearances for the club, though he still found the net twice during that brief stint.
The majority of Ujah’s club career was spent in Germany, where he featured for clubs including Mainz, Cologne, Werder Bremen, and Union Berlin, earning a reputation as a hardworking and effective forward.
Internationally, Ujah was capped seven times by Nigeria, scoring once for the Super Eagles. His contributions at both club and international level leave behind a legacy of resilience and professionalism.
With his playing days now behind him, Ujah joins the growing list of former Super Eagles players transitioning into the next chapter of their lives beyond the pitch.
