Five persons killed in Plateau community

Not less than seven persons have reportedly died after gunmen attacked Kerang community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attack occurred despite a 24-hour curfew imposed on the LGA by the government following similar attacks by gunmen that claimed several lives in neighbouring communities last week.

A resident of Kerang community, Joseph Kabir, who confirmed the latest attacks to The PUNCH in Jos on Tuesday, said, among those killed were a man and his wife.

He added that the victims were given a mass burial on Tuesday morning.

Residents say the attackers escaped into the bush after carrying out their evil acts.

By morning, the corpses of the victims were discovered by residents and were given mass burial on June 27, 2023.

The spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, was yet to make public statement regarding the incident.
