Barcelona forward Fermin Lopez says he is “sad” to give up his number 16 shirt for incoming midfielder Rodri.
Rodri is expected to complete his £65.4 million transfer from Manchester City in the coming days, with the Spain international having already spoken to Lopez about taking over the number he previously wore at City.
Lopez is set to switch to the number 7 shirt, which became available following Ferran Torres’ move to Paris Saint-Germain.
“Rodri will give us a lot of quality, it’s a fantastic signing,” Lopez told AS.
“I’ve asked for number 7. I always liked it.
“I’m a little bit sad to leave number 16, but it will be in good hands.”
