Federal Government Signs MOU for Development of Abuja Tech City

The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Domineum/Edenbase UK for the development of Abuja Tech City.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Uche Nnaji, in Abuja on Tuesday.

The signing of the MOU marks a significant step towards the realization of Abuja Tech City, laying the foundation for collaboration and cooperation in technology transfer between the UK consortium and the federal government.

Minister Nnaji expressed optimism about Nigeria’s readiness for the collaboration, citing the success of London Tech City, which generated over 61 billion pounds in its fifth year of operation.

Abuja Tech City is envisioned as a Free Trade Zone and a full-fledged smart and green city, housing tech-driven startups, industries, entertainment facilities, schools, parks, and government initiatives such as the Clean Tech Program and Green Manufacturing Initiatives under the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology’s Agenda 8 and 9.

The development of Abuja Tech City will be spearheaded by the same consortium that led the creation of London Tech City, now the second most valuable tech ecosystem globally after Silicon Valley.
