Eric Chelle Warns NFF on Contract Terms Amid Rumors of Dismissal

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has emphasized that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) must be prepared to fulfill the financial obligations of his contract should they decide to terminate his tenure.
Chelle’s comments come in response to circulating rumors about his potential dismissal following the home-based team’s disappointing performance at the 2024 CHAN tournament. Nigeria’s losses to Senegal and Sudan in their opening two matches resulted in an early exit from the competition.
This outcome has sparked debate among fans and analysts about whether Chelle is the right leader to guide the three-time African champions as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, scheduled to begin in less than two weeks.
“I have heard a lot of stories about them wanting to sack me and replace me with someone else. I have heard about that,” Chelle told journalist Osasu Obayiuwana.
“I know, quite well, that I can be fired after one match. This is life in football, but if they decide to do that, they must be prepared to pay up the remainder of my contract.”
