Education Minister Predicts Tinubu’s 2027 Victory, Cites Economic Reforms

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure re-election in the 2027 presidential election, attributing his optimism to the administration’s economic reforms and what he described as improving macroeconomic indicators.

The remarks were contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Education, Ikharo Attah, on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Speaking during an interview, Alausa said the Tinubu administration had fulfilled key promises to Nigerians through bold economic policies aimed at transforming the country’s economy and laying the foundation for sustainable and inclusive growth.

The minister argued that Nigeria’s economic progress is backed by credible data rather than political rhetoric, noting that assessments by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, Bloomberg, and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) indicate that the government’s reforms are producing measurable results and boosting investor confidence.

According to him, key economic indicators are showing positive trends, with inflation gradually easing, economic activity expanding, and other macroeconomic indices recording steady improvement.

“The President is focused on building a stronger Nigeria for generations to come. These reforms are not designed for short-term gains but to create lasting prosperity. There is no value in making difficult decisions if they cannot stand the test of time,” Alausa said.

He added that the administration’s commitment to fiscal discipline, structural reforms, and long-term economic stability is already yielding positive outcomes across several sectors, positioning the country for inclusive growth, increased productivity, and national development.

The minister maintained that as Nigerians continue to experience the benefits of the ongoing reforms, President Tinubu’s performance would provide a strong basis for seeking a second term in office in 2027.

He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at strengthening the economy, improving citizens’ welfare, and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing optimism that the gains of the current reforms would translate into lasting prosperity for Nigerians.
