Zamfara State government has released documentary evidence against the immediate past administration in the state led by the Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle in relation to the uncompleted Gusau International (Cargo) Airport project.
Matawalle had earlier denied the allegation of embezzling billions from the Zamfara cargo airport project, however, the denial seems to have opened the Pandora’s Box as the state government on Sunday reeled out evidence backing the allegation.
Spokesperson to Zamfara Governor, Sulaiman Idris, in a statement alleged that the former governor directed the Ministry of Local Government to withdraw N1 billion from the Local Government Joint Account on the 25th of October 2021, and to pay N825 million of the money to the contractors without any valuation.
The action, he said was in complete disregard of due process.
