Davido Sparks Backlash After Visiting President Tinubu With Billionaire Father and Governor Uncle

Afrobeats superstar Davido has once again found himself in the middle of an online firestorm this time after paying a high-profile visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Lagos residence. The visit, which took place on June 3, 2025, was anything but low-key, as the singer was accompanied by his billionaire father Adedeji Adeleke and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Davido didn’t shy away from the moment either. He shared several photos from the meeting to his Instagram Story, posing with President Tinubu and First Lady Remi Tinubu. The images immediately went viral and sparked a divided reaction across social media.

While some fans applauded the Adeleke family’s growing political relevance and praised Davido for acting as a cultural bridge, others were quick to call out what they saw as selective outrage in Nigerian celebrity culture.

Critics questioned why Davido was being celebrated or at least spared while fellow entertainers like Toyin Abraham, Eniola Badmus, Seyi Law, and Yul Edochie were dragged online for publicly aligning with Tinubu during and after the 2023 elections.

“Same fans that tore others apart for political affiliations are now quiet because it’s Davido,” one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote. “The hypocrisy is wild.”

The controversy once again highlights the blurred lines between celebrity, politics, and public perception in Nigeria especially when fame meets power.
