Bruno Fernandes Slams ‘Lazy’ United Display, Urges Club to Sign More Quality Players

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes did not hold back in his criticism following his side’s 2-2 draw with Everton in the Premier League Summer Series on Sunday, labeling the team’s performance as “lazy.”

Fernandes got United off to a strong start by converting a penalty, but Everton quickly responded with Iliman Ndiaye finishing off a cross from Idrissa Gueye. Substitute Mason Mount restored the Red Devils’ lead with a well-placed curling strike, only for Everton to level again after a deflection off Amad Diallo led to an unfortunate own goal.

Speaking after the match, Fernandes voiced his frustration:

“Our performance wasn’t the best and we were a little bit lazy today. We want to avoid that because with laziness you can pay at any moment.”

The Portuguese midfielder also called on the club to bolster the squad with more quality players before the new season begins.

“It was crystal clear we needed more competition for the players that were here, more quality to get everyone to step up a little more to get to the XI, and I think that is what the club are trying to do,” Fernandes added.

His remarks underscore growing expectations at Old Trafford as United prepare for a critical campaign.
