Biodun Okeowo Calls Out Unsupportive Colleagues, Decries Envy in Nollywood

Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has expressed frustration over what she described as a lack of support and growing envy within the film industry, calling out colleagues she believes undermine collective progress.
In a post shared on Instagram, Okeowo addressed two groups of people in the industry. First, she criticised actors who appear in films but fail to support producers during promotional campaigns. She described such behaviour as unfair and unsupportive, noting that promotion is a crucial part of a film’s success.
The actress also took aim at colleagues she accused of being stingy with encouragement and visibility. According to Okeowo, she has actively promoted numerous films she did not feature in, insisting that support should not be conditional.
She stressed that showing support does not come at a cost and urged industry players to view others’ success as motivation rather than a threat. Okeowo said jealousy and resentment only weaken the creative community.
Despite her criticism, the actress expressed gratitude to colleagues who have consistently shown genuine support, whether requested or voluntary. She encouraged unity, reminding industry players that there is enough space for everyone to succeed.
Okeowo concluded by calling on her peers to let go of hate and work together, emphasising that collaboration and mutual encouragement are essential for the industry’s growth.
