American rapper Lil Durk has revealed the music helping him stay motivated while in detention, with Nigerian singer Tems’ hit song “Free Mind” topping his playlist.
The rapper, whose real name is Durk Banks, shared the list of songs on social media as he remains in custody while facing a federal murder-for-hire case in the United States.
Tems’ Grammy-winning track led a selection of songs centred on perseverance, struggle and personal resilience.
Other tracks on Lil Durk’s list include “Nightmares to Dreams” by Meek Mill, “Some How Some Way” by Jay-Z, “Changes” by 2Pac, “I Wish” by 21 Savage and “Freedom Time” by Lauryn Hill.
The playlist also features Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem,” Fridayy’s “Baddest in the Room,” Jadakiss’ “Still Feel Me,” Kanye West’s “Everything I Am” and Lil Baby’s “Dead Fresh.”
The inclusion of “Free Mind” gives Tems another connection to a global audience, with the song’s themes of overcoming emotional struggles resonating with listeners years after its release.
Lil Durk is currently standing trial in the United States over allegations that he orchestrated a murder-for-hire plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo as an act of revenge.
The trial began on August 20, 2026, and the rapper has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecutors allege that the scheme was connected to the killing of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, in Los Angeles in 2022. Lil Durk’s defence has disputed the prosecution’s case.
