Former Big Brother Naija Season 9 housemate, Nelly Mbonu, has claimed that her once-close friendship with fellow housemate Kellyrae ended because of his wife, Kassia.
During the latest episode of the BBNaija Reunion show, Nelly opened up about the breakdown of her relationship with Kellyrae, revealing that their bond deteriorated after Kassia, also a former housemate, allegedly sowed discord between them.
Nelly and Kellyrae were known to be close during their time in the house—especially before it was revealed that Kellyrae and Kassia were secretly married.
Reflecting on the fallout, Nelly said, “It never for once felt like me and Kellyrae had issues,” adding that she believed Kassia influenced his behavior towards her. When asked by host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu when she first noticed a change in Kellyrae’s attitude, she responded bluntly: “Obviously, it’s the wife.”
Kassia quickly interjected, accusing Nelly of distancing herself from Kellyrae. “Hmm? You stopped talking to him. What do you mean by ‘obviously, it’s the wife’?”
Visibly upset, Nelly shot back, “Can you shut up and let me speak? Like I was saying, the wife clearly had an issue with me in the house because I told Onyeka something Kassia told me—which turned out to be false.”
Nelly explained that Kassia once claimed Onyeka made a comment about her, only for Nelly to later discover it wasn’t true.
“You told me Onyeka said something about me, and you were so confident about it. But you never mentioned that part of it was just your ‘instincts,’” she said.
Defending herself, Kassia replied, “I said two things—Onyeka said the first one, and the second was based on my instincts. Maybe you didn’t understand.”
