AY Apologises After Cardiff Show Fails to Start, Cites Unresolved Payment Dispute

Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has apologised to fans after his AY Live: Single and Not Searching show in Cardiff, Wales, failed to get underway on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

The event, scheduled to hold at Valegate Retail Park, was reportedly marred by prolonged delays, confusion and arguments among attendees. Some ticket holders said they waited for hours without seeing a performance, while reports indicated that police were eventually present at the venue.

In a statement posted on his official social media accounts on Monday, AY apologised to those who attended, acknowledging the disappointment caused by the disruption.

“To everyone who bought tickets and came out to see us in Cardiff, I sincerely apologise for the disappointment you experienced. Your time, money and support deserve respect,” he said.

AY blames payment dispute for delay

The comedian attributed the disruption to unresolved payment commitments, explaining that he and the other comedians on the line-up had travelled to Cardiff and were present at the venue.

According to AY, the payment issues were eventually addressed, but by the time the team arrived at the venue, most of the audience had already left.

He said ticket holders should not have been caught up in a dispute over payments and acknowledged that they deserved better organisation and timely communication.

“You deserved a properly organised show and timely information. You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute,” he added.

AY said he had provided a more detailed explanation of the incident in a video, urging the public to hear his account before reaching conclusions about what happened.

Refunds sought for affected ticket holders

The comedian also called on the event organisers and his UK tour management to provide a clear resolution for affected customers, including information on ticket refunds.

He said verified updates would be communicated through his official channels.

The incident has raised concerns among attendees who paid to see the performance but left without watching the show.

UK tour dates remain scheduled

Despite the Cardiff disruption, AY said the remaining dates on his UK tour would proceed as scheduled.

The announced dates are Birmingham on October 30, London on October 31, and Manchester on November 1, 2026.

Reflecting on his career, the comedian said the support he had received from audiences over more than two decades remained important to him.

He pledged to continue working to honour that trust as he addressed the fallout from the Cardiff event.
