Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Adetona, Laid to Rest in Ijebu Ode

The Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has been laid to rest at his private residence in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The revered monarch, who passed away at the age of 91, was buried on Monday in accordance with traditional rites. The solemn ceremony was attended by dignitaries, members of the royal family, and high-ranking chiefs of the Ijebu Traditional Council.

Among those present were Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, former Governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote, and Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate).

Oba Adetona, who reigned for over six decades, was one of Nigeria’s longest-serving and most respected traditional rulers. His passing marks the end of a historic era in Ijebuland, where he was widely regarded for his progressive leadership, courage, and commitment to cultural preservation.
