Army to Deploy 6,195 Fresh Recruits Nationwide to Boost Operations

88 Regular Recruit Intake complete six-month training, to join fight against insecurity

The Nigerian Army has announced the deployment of 6,195 newly trained regular combatants across the country to strengthen its operational capacity and combat security threats.

The recruits, who make up the 88 Regular Recruit Intake, began their military training at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria on January 13, 2025, and recently completed the six-month program.

Out of the initial 6,450 candidates who commenced training, 255 were unable to complete the rigorous exercise.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, is expected to serve as the reviewing officer at the passing out parade, which marks the official entry of the recruits into active service.

According to the Army, the fresh soldiers will be deployed to various operational theatres across Nigeria to reinforce efforts against insurgency, banditry, and other internal security threats.

“These new recruits are expected to combat the existential threats in the country,” the Army stated, noting that they will also undergo specialised training tailored to the specific demands of their postings.

The move is part of ongoing efforts to address manpower needs and sustain the military’s readiness to respond swiftly and effectively to the nation’s evolving security challenges.
