In a tragic incident, an Army Captain and a private soldier were killed during a midnight attack by Boko Haram terrorists on Izge community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. The attack occurred around 1:00 am on May 7, 2025, as the insurgents infiltrated the farming community.
The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, confirmed the incident, stating that the terrorists engaged the troops in a fierce gun battle. Despite the loss of the two soldiers, the military successfully repelled the attack, preventing further casualties and destruction.
Military sources revealed that the insurgents suffered significant losses during the confrontation, with several terrorists neutralized in the process.
