Al-Hilal president Fahad Bin Nafal has explained why the club has struggled to secure Victor Osimhen and other high-profile signings this summer.
Bin Nafal cited “illogical” counter offers from other clubs and player fatigue as key reasons behind their unsuccessful transfer attempts.
The Saudi Pro League club recently appointed Simone Inzaghi as their new manager, shortly after he lost the Champions League final with Inter Milan.
Despite offering lucrative deals, Al-Hilal have been unable to sign Napoli’s Osimhen, AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez, and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes. They also failed in their bid to lure Cristiano Ronaldo from local rivals Al-Nassr, even with the appeal of playing in the Club World Cup.
“We’ve spoken with many players, but they want to rest after a long season,” Bin Nafal stated. “We tried to finalize several signings before the World Cup, but time constraints and illogical offers hindered us.”
