Akor Adams is expected to spearhead Nigeria’s attack when the Super Eagles face Madagascar in Friday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture, with Victor Osimhen ruled out through injury.
A reliable camp source says the Venezia striker is preferred to George Ilenikhena, Tolu Arokodare, Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Usor, who were also called up for the fixtures against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
Adams has become an important figure in the national team since scoring on his Super Eagles debut against Lesotho last October.
The 26-year-old has six goals in 15 appearances for the three-time African champions.
Nigeria will take on the Barea of Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday.
The Group L encounter is scheduled to kick off at 5pm local time.
