Adamawa State Honours Super Falcons Coach Justine Madugu with House and ₦50m Reward

The Adamawa State Government has celebrated Super Falcons coach, Justine Madugu, in recognition of his pivotal role in securing Nigeria’s 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title. Madugu, a native of Adamawa, was honoured by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who presented him with a fully furnished three-bedroom bungalow and a monetary reward of ₦50 million for his remarkable achievement that brought glory to both the state and the country.
Coach Madugu, who hails from Numan Local Government Area, was accorded a hero’s welcome on Friday at the Government House in Yola. During the ceremony, Governor Fintiri lauded Madugu’s tactical expertise and leadership, describing his contribution as a source of pride for the state.
“Madugu’s coaching acumen has always commanded confidence,” Fintiri stated. “It is a moment of immense pride for us in Adamawa that one of our own has led the national team to triumph on the continental stage. His strategic brilliance and unwavering dedication have earned international recognition for Nigeria and brought distinction to our state.”
While presenting the keys to the house and the financial reward, Governor Fintiri reiterated his administration’s unwavering support for sports development and the nurturing of local talents.
In his response, Coach Madugu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the governor and the people of Adamawa for the honor bestowed upon him.
“I am deeply touched by today’s reception,” he said. “I thank the Almighty and the government of Adamawa State for acknowledging my efforts.”
Madugu further noted, “Taking on this role was a personal challenge for me—to demonstrate that individuals from the North can lead successfully at the highest levels. I aimed to create a legacy that would command respect for our state and inspire others.”
