Abducted Monarch Rescued in Daring Operation by Nasarawa Police

The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully rescued the traditional ruler of Dari, Sangarin Dari, days after he was abducted from his community.

The monarch, who was kidnapped on May 28, 2025, was freed unhurt during a high-risk rescue operation conducted late Sunday night, June 2, by the Command’s elite Search and Rescue Team.

The coordinated mission took place in the rugged Panwasa Mountains near Mada Station, following days of intelligence-gathering and strategic pressure on the kidnappers.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the monarch was immediately taken for medical evaluation and has since been reunited safely with his family.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing abductors behind this heinous act,” Nansel confirmed.

Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, lauded the swift response of the rescue team and expressed deep appreciation to the public for their vigilance and cooperation.

He also praised the collaboration of local vigilante groups and other security agencies whose joint efforts ensured the operation’s success.

“This rescue highlights the critical importance of community partnership in our collective fight against insecurity,” the commissioner noted.

The abduction of the monarch had sparked widespread concern across Nasarawa, a state grappling with rising cases of rural banditry and kidnappings. Authorities say a manhunt is underway to track down the suspects believed to be hiding within the region’s remote terrains.
