Nigerian rapper and social media personality Speed Darlington has set his sights on a potential boxing bout with Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy after his scheduled clash with Carter Efe.
Darlington disclosed his ambition in an interview with Nevo Media, where he said he wants to settle his longstanding grievances with Burna Boy inside the boxing ring.
The rapper is scheduled to face Carter Efe on October 1 at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, as part of the Chaos in the Ring series. The matchup has been officially announced by the event promoters.
Looking beyond the October contest, Darlington said he hopes organisers can arrange a fight against Burna Boy next.
“The plan is after I finish with the Carter Efe, I hope they can make it happen. I want Burna Boy next so I can offload all my anger on him,” he said.
According to the rapper, facing Burna Boy would be one of the standout moments of his year.
“That would be sweet, that would be the highlight of this year,” Darlington added.
Darlington also revisited his previous dispute with Burna Boy, alleging that the singer was responsible for his arrest. He said the experience remains a source of resentment and claimed he would not forgive the singer.
“He had me locked up, that’s what he did to me. That’s the deal, I can’t forgive that. Even after the fight, we are still enemies for life,” he said.
The feud between the two entertainers dates back to 2024 and has previously involved social media exchanges, a police complaint and Darlington’s detention. Reports have also documented legal action connected to the dispute.
Darlington’s immediate focus, however, remains his October 1 celebrity boxing contest against Carter Efe.
Efe enters the bout after defeating singer Portable by unanimous decision in May, while Darlington is seeking to bounce back from his 2025 defeat to Portable in his previous celebrity boxing appearance.
The October 1 event will be held on Nigeria’s Independence Day at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, with the celebrity bout forming part of a wider Chaos in the Ring card.
