Femi Adebayo Revisits ‘Seven Doors’ as Sequel Takes Shape
Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo is preparing a sequel to his directorial debut, Seven Doors, less than two years after the six-part miniseries premiered.
Adebayo confirmed the development while speaking on VJ Adams Live, where he shared details of how he approaches follow-up projects.
Rather than moving straight into a sequel, the filmmaker said he returns to the original production to assess what worked and what could be improved.
He is currently rewatching Seven Doors as part of his preparation for the next instalment.
Adebayo explained that this is a process he has also applied to previous projects, including Jagun Jagun and Ageshinkole, before working on their respective follow-ups.
According to him, revisiting an earlier production helps him identify areas where he can raise the quality of the next project.
“I watch my movies after they’ve been released, especially when I want to produce another one,” he said.
Beyond watching the productions himself, Adebayo said he pays attention to how audiences respond to his work.
He reads viewers’ comments, including both positive and negative reactions, which he said help him determine what needs to be done differently in future productions.
The approach comes after Seven Doors, released in December 2024, received recognition at major Nigerian awards ceremonies.
At the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, the series won Best Lead Actor and Best Lead Actress.
It also secured four honours at the Best of Nollywood Awards: Best Series, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography and Best Special Effects.
Despite confirming plans for a follow-up, Adebayo has not announced a release date for the Seven Doors sequel.
