Seun Kuti Says Infidelity Wouldn’t End His Marriage, Explains Why He Would Stay

Nigerian Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has said infidelity would not be enough to make him end his marriage to his wife, Yetunde Kuti.
Kuti made the remarks while discussing relationships and marital deal-breakers with his wife on TVC’s Your View.
When asked whether he would leave his wife if she were unfaithful, the singer said he would remain in the marriage, questioning why cheating should automatically lead to separation.
Kuti argued that love should not be viewed as a form of ownership and challenged what he described as the attitude of some African men towards infidelity.
He also referenced traditional African inheritance practices to explain his position, arguing that, historically, a man could be certain of his sister’s children as biological relatives.
According to him, this was one reason some traditional systems placed particular importance on inheritance through a sister’s children.
Kuti stressed, however, that his argument should not be interpreted as an endorsement of infidelity.
The singer’s wife, Yetunde, expressed a similar position during the discussion, saying infidelity would not be enough for her to leave her husband either.
The couple’s comments have resurfaced online, prompting renewed debate about fidelity, trust and the expectations attached to marriage.
Seun and Yetunde Kuti have been married since October 2020. They also have a daughter, Adara.
