Barcelona have completed the signing of Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic from Turkish club Fenerbahce, the Spanish giants confirmed on Thursday.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper joins Barcelona on a four-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2030.
Spanish media reports indicate that Barcelona will pay an initial fee of around €4 million ($4.7 million), with the final amount potentially rising depending on agreed conditions.
Livakovic arrives at the Catalan club with considerable international experience, having established himself as one of Croatia’s leading goalkeepers.
He played a key role in Croatia’s impressive run to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Livakovic produced crucial penalty-shootout saves against Japan and Brazil as Croatia advanced through the knockout stages.
He was also part of the Croatia squad at this summer’s World Cup, further adding to his experience at the highest level of international football.
Livakovic spent last season on loan at Girona after joining from Fenerbahce, although he did not make an appearance for the Spanish side.
At Barcelona, he is expected to provide experienced competition and cover behind first-choice goalkeeper Joan Garcia. He will also join veteran Poland international Wojciech Szczesny among the club’s goalkeeping options.
The move gives Barcelona greater depth between the posts as the club prepares for another demanding season across domestic and European competitions.
