Wumi Toriola, Seyi Edun Reconcile Years After Public Fallout

Nollywood actresses Wumi Toriola and Seyi Edun have rekindled their friendship, bringing an end to years of public estrangement.
The reconciliation became known after Seyi Edun celebrated Wumi’s birthday with a heartfelt message on Instagram, describing their renewed relationship as one built on growth, understanding and a new beginning.
Reflecting on their reunion, Seyi said time and distance had tested their friendship but ultimately revealed the strength of the bond they once shared.
“They say time and distance can test a friendship, but they can also prove how deep the roots go together. Reconnecting with you has been one of the highlights of my year, and it reminded me of the beautiful bond we have always had,” she wrote.
She added that reconnecting with Wumi had reaffirmed the importance of their friendship.
“Our reconnection has shown me just how much our bond matters. I’m so glad we chose growth, understanding, and a fresh start,” she said.
Wumi Toriola confirmed the reconciliation in the comments section of the post, expressing gratitude for their renewed friendship.
“Ashabi, I genuinely miss us. Love you so much dear friend and thanks for the huge gift. I’m grateful we came back to our senses. Love you,” she wrote.
The pair’s friendship deteriorated in October 2020 after Seyi Edun did not publicly celebrate the first birthday of Wumi’s son, Zion, on social media and was absent from the birthday celebration despite their close relationship at the time.
The incident led to a public disagreement, during which Wumi criticised Seyi. Their fallout deepened in June 2021 when Wumi also did not acknowledge Seyi’s birthday, further widening the rift between the two actresses.
Their latest exchange on social media now signals a reconciliation, with both actresses indicating they have chosen to move beyond their past differences.
