BBNaija’s Neo Akpofure Says He Would Kneel to Propose, Defends Tradition of Respect
Big Brother Naija star Neo Akpofure has expressed that he would happily kneel when proposing to his future wife, viewing it as a gesture of respect, love, and commitment rather than submission.
“If you like, don’t kneel to ask your woman to marry you, that’s for you. Me, I will kneel with happiness and a big smile on my face, and if that bothers you, I pray you don’t heal from that headache it causes you,” Neo wrote on social media.
His statement has sparked mixed reactions. Fans praised him for embracing humility and vulnerability in love, while others argued that kneeling is a Western practice that may not align with African cultural norms.
Neo’s comments come amid reflections on his past relationships. He previously dated Beauty Tukura, a fellow BBNaija contestant. The pair made headlines in July 2023 when spotted leaving a hotel together, a relationship later confirmed by Beauty’s friend, Doyin. Their romance, however, ended in October 2023, with both unfollowing each other on social media.
Earlier, Neo had also been involved with co-star Vee Iye, but they broke up in 2022. Reports suggest that conflicts involving Neo’s cousin, Venita Akpofure, contributed to the split.
Despite past heartbreaks, Neo appears unbothered and unapologetic about his stance on love, choosing to openly express his values and beliefs regarding marriage proposals.
