The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the successful upgrade of its Diaspora National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment portal, aiming to enhance efficiency, security, and user experience for Nigerians living abroad.
In a statement released on Monday by NIMC spokesperson Kayode Adegoke, the commission said the revamped platform is part of its efforts to deliver a seamless and robust identity management service to the Nigerian diaspora.
“To ensure effective service delivery and smooth management of the National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment in the Diaspora, the NIMC has successfully upgraded its diaspora enrolment platform,” the statement read.

According to NIMC, the upgraded system is designed to offer:
- Enhanced security features
- More efficient processing
- Improved reliability and access for both service providers and applicants
To ensure a smooth transition, Diaspora Front-End Partners (FEPs) have received intensive training on the new platform and are now required to activate their NIN enrolment licenses within 48 hours.
Nigerians abroad can begin accessing enrolment services through compliant FEPs immediately.
Support for Applicants
NIMC acknowledged that the platform upgrade may have caused temporary disruptions, but assured applicants that a dedicated service team has been deployed to address any issues related to diaspora NIN registration.
“Diaspora applicants experiencing issues with NIN enrolment should reach out to the Commission for support,” the statement said.
NIN Enrolment Also Ongoing Nationwide
NIMC also reminded the public that NIN enrolment continues across all approved centres in Nigeria, and urged applicants to visit the nearest centres, which can be found on the commission’s website: www.nimc.gov.ng.
In addition, NIN holders are encouraged to download the NIMC NINAuth mobile app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. The app enables users to:
- Instantly verify their NINs
- Control access to their personal data
- Manage identity authentication services conveniently
