Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of a Senior Special Reporter attached to the Ministry of History and Culture, Sadiq Gentle, who died from injuries sustained during a recent attack by suspected hoodlums in the Kofar Nasarawa area of Kano metropolis.
In a condolence message issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf described the late Gentle as a “dedicated and patriotic social media professional” whose untimely death has sent shockwaves through both the state government and the media community.
“The news of Malam Sadiq Gentle’s death hit me with deep sadness and anguish.
“He was not only a committed public servant but also a man of peace and integrity, who served Kano State with unwavering dedication. His brutal murder is a senseless tragedy and an affront to our shared humanity”, the governor said.
Gentle was known for his work in promoting Kano’s rich cultural heritage and for using digital platforms to foster civic awareness and government transparency. His death has sparked outrage among colleagues and youth activists, who have called for swift action to curb rising cases of street violence in the city.
Governor Yusuf condemned the killing, describing it as “heinous, barbaric, and utterly unacceptable.” He directed security agencies to immediately investigate the incident and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“I have instructed security operatives to swing into action and promptly identify and apprehend all those responsible for this heinous crime,” he stated.
The governor also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and professional colleagues of the late Gentle, assuring them of the government’s full support during this difficult time.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting citizens and maintaining law and order across the state.
