BBNaija’s Uriel Slams Nigerian Men Who Age-Shame Women”

Former Big Brother Naija star and entrepreneur, Uriel Oputa, has spoken out against the harmful practice of age-shaming, particularly directed at women.

In a powerful Instagram post, Uriel called out Nigerian men who belittle women for growing older, questioning why the natural process of aging should be used as an insult. She boldly emphasized that aging is a privilege, and she would rather grow old than face an early death.

“This message is specifically for Nigerian men,” Uriel began. “It’s an insult to God to use age as a weapon against a woman. I posted a video with a message, and instead of reflecting on its meaning, all you focused on was ‘oh, you’re getting older.’ You’re not intelligent enough to digest the message and apply it to improve your life, yet you choose to hold onto the idea of someone’s age as if that’s the insult.”

She continued, urging people to reconsider their approach to aging. “Think twice before you insult a woman who is growing gracefully. Aging isn’t an insult; it’s a blessing. There is no shame in aging—aging is a privilege. I’d rather grow old than be six feet under with regrets. Some people have all the money in the world and still wish they had one more day to breathe.”

Urging others to reflect on the value of life, Uriel concluded, “Don’t mock what you don’t understand. One day, life will remind you.”

Her bold message has since garnered widespread support, with fans praising her for challenging societal norms and standing confidently in the face of pressure.
