Jacob Aondona has been named Sporting Lagos’ Player of the Month for May, following a series of standout performances for the Nigeria National League (NNL) side.
Aondona clinched the award ahead of fellow nominees Abraham Idakwo, Babatunde Akomolede, and Thompson Gavi, thanks to his commanding presence in the heart of Sporting Lagos’ defence throughout the month.
In addition to his defensive solidity, Aondona also contributed offensively by registering an assist during the review period.
Despite Aondona’s individual brilliance, Sporting Lagos failed to secure a spot in the NNL playoffs at the conclusion of the 2025 season. The team finished with a record of nine wins, five draws, and six losses across 20 matches.
