Ojude Oba 2025: King of Steeze, Farooq Oreagba, Reigns Supreme Once Again

Farooq Oreagba—the undisputed style icon of the Ojude Oba festival—returned to the 2025 edition in show-stopping fashion, reaffirming his title as the “King of Steeze.”
Oreagba, who became a nationwide sensation after his unforgettable 2024 debut, once again captivated festival-goers and online audiences alike. Last year, he set a new benchmark for fashion and flair at the historic event, arriving on a glamorously adorned horse in a striking green-and-lemon agbada and sokoto ensemble, made from luxurious aso-oke fabric.
Complete with a matching fila (traditional cap), red coral beads, a gold crossbody chain, and accessories including bold tattoos, a tobacco pipe, designer sunglasses, and an Apple wristwatch, Oreagba’s look fused traditional elegance with contemporary swagger—turning him into an instant pop culture icon.
For 2025, the investment banker-turned-style star raised the bar yet again. He made a triumphant return in a majestic brown aso-oke agbada and sokoto, adorned with silver jewelry, a chunky Cuban link chain, and a regal gold staff topped with a lion-head sceptre—seamlessly blending royalty and street-style sophistication.
The Ojude Oba festival, which dates back to the 19th century, remains a proud celebration of Ijebu heritage. It began as a gesture of gratitude from the Muslim community to the Awujale—the traditional ruler of Ijebuland—for the freedom to practice their faith. Over time, it has evolved into a vibrant cultural spectacle.
At the heart of the festival are the regberegbe (age-grade groups), who parade in elaborate traditional attire, accompanied by music, dance, horse-riding displays, and artistic performances. It is a joyful expression of Yoruba pride, unity, and rich cultural legacy.
With his flawless 2025 appearance, Farooq Oreagba not only honored the spirit of Ojude Oba but also reminded everyone that style—with cultural depth and personal charisma—can be a powerful way to celebrate heritage.
