Dembélé Named Ligue 1 Player of the Year as PSG Target Treble

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé was crowned Ligue 1 Player of the Year on Sunday, following an outstanding season in which he led the club to its 13th French league title and a place in the Champions League final.
Dembélé finished as Ligue 1’s top scorer with 21 goals, and amassed 33 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions, including eight goals in European matches. His award ends the five-year reign of Kylian Mbappé, who had previously won the accolade five times before departing for Real Madrid at the end of last season.
At the UNFP (French players’ union) Trophies gala, Luis Enrique was named Coach of the Year after guiding PSG to another dominant domestic season. Desire Doué received the Best Young Player award in Ligue 1, underlining the league’s next generation of rising talent.
However, PSG did not achieve a complete sweep of the evening’s individual honours. Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier claimed the Best Goalkeeper award, edging out PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.
PSG are now in contention for a historic treble, having secured their 11th Ligue 1 title in the past 13 years. They are set to face Reims in the French Cup final and Inter Milan in the Champions League final on May 31, as they look to cap off the season in dominant fashion.
